e-Stewards Certification is an accredited, third-party audited certification for electronics recyclers, refurbishers, and IT asset disposition (ITAD) companies. It establishes requirements for the ethical, secure, and environmentally responsible management of used electronics, including data security, responsible recycling and reuse, downstream accountability, worker and environmental protection, and compliance with international waste-trade rules such as the Basel Convention. Certification also requires an approved environmental management system, such as ISO 14001 or RIOS, and NAID AAA Certification for data security.
