Spotlight on Nathan Campbell – Leading with Trust and Transformation

Nathan Campbell has a natural gift for conversation. Whether discussing business strategy, culture, or personal stories, he speaks with energy and insight that keep people engaged. As CEO and Executive Director of i-SIGMA, he channels that gift into inspiring teams and shaping organizations for lasting impact.

At i-SIGMA, Nathan leads a global association that certifies the full life cycle of information management. “We want to help our members grow their businesses, improve their operations, and retain more of their earnings,” he explains. His vision is to create a culture of trust and measurable transformation – one that balances rigorous compliance with opportunities for growth. Under his leadership, i-SIGMA enforces high standards and equips members to thrive in a rapidly changing data security landscape.

For Nathan, certification is more than a checklist. “Our certifications are proof of daily discipline and accountability,” he says. To keep those standards meaningful, i-SIGMA audits every member every other year, with one-third receiving unannounced visits annually. That rigor reinforces the association’s reputation for integrity as it prepares its members for the next wave of cybersecurity and privacy challenges.

Nathan’s leadership philosophy is rooted in people. “To achieve extraordinary results, you have to help your team find their superpower and let them use it,” he says. He hires for attitude over aptitude, valuing positivity and resilience over raw credentials. “If I make a hiring mistake, it’ll be because I chose the person with the right attitude, not just the smartest résumé. I’ll take attitude all day.” That mindset has helped him build high-performance teams that are collaborative, adaptable, and committed to the mission.

He also embraces change, even when it’s uncomfortable. “People naturally fear change. I say, let’s jump into it. It’s okay to fail,” Nathan explains. He encourages teams to lean into uncertainty, challenge assumptions, and innovate. Over the years, he’s received countless messages from former colleagues thanking him for pushing them beyond their comfort zones. “I love hearing from someone who says, ‘When you made me go through that, I couldn’t stand it, but now I see it made me better.’ That’s what growth looks like.”

Culture, Nathan believes, is the foundation of strategy. “Earlier in my career, I learned that the best strategies fail if the culture isn’t ready for them,” he says. He works to create environments where collaboration, curiosity, and accountability flourish. Helping organizations and people find their competitive edge, he adds, “takes building the culture first.”

Nathan’s own career reflects the breadth and curiosity he champions. He began in operations before moving into sales, experiences that taught him the value of curiosity and trust in every deal. “You can’t be a good salesperson without curiosity,” he says. “If you don’t genuinely care about helping a business improve, you won’t close many deals.” His approach has yielded not just transactions, but relationships, some spanning more than a decade.

Before joining i-SIGMA, Nathan played a pivotal role at Access, a records and information management company. There, he helped grow the business from $38.5 million to roughly $290 million in five years, integrating 78 acquisitions along the way. That period sharpened his ability to navigate complex business challenges and deliver sustained growth – skills he now applies to strengthening i-SIGMA’s certifications and member value.

Service to others extends beyond Nathan’s professional life. He spent four years with the Helpers Community, supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, an experience he describes as “doing something great for your soul.” He approaches philanthropy with the same intentionality he brings to business, personally visiting programs to ensure funds are used effectively. “It changes you,” he says, reflecting on the perspective gained from giving back.

Outside of work, Nathan is a sports enthusiast, a devoted father of twins, and an avid traveler who has visited 31 countries and 45 U.S. states. He also enjoys crafting small-batch cocktails under a personal label called Hankering, aging custom recipes of Manhattans and Old Fashioneds. Sharing a drink, he says with a laugh, is the only way to earn the brand’s exclusive swag.

Through every chapter of his career, Nathan Campbell has remained focused on people, culture, and continuous improvement. His ability to build trust, embrace change, and develop high-performing teams has left a lasting mark on the organizations he leads and the individuals he mentors. “I want to see us create transformative opportunities,” he says. At i-SIGMA and beyond, Nathan’s leadership continues to turn that vision into reality.
