When you see that a facility is R2 Certified, that means that the said facility has met certain regulatory requirements specified by the R2 Standards.

The Key Requirements for R2 Certified Facilities include the following key areas:

1. Environmental, Health, and Safety Management System (EHSMS)

An R2 certified facility must establish and maintain an Environmental, Health, and Safety Management System (EHSMS) to mitigate and manage risks associated with recycling processes. This system must comply with applicable legal requirements and be continually improved.

R2 Certified facilities must ensure that all materials are managed responsibly. This includes identifying and tracking all materials, ensuring proper handling, storage, and processing to minimize environmental impact.
